Small cabinet specimen with countless very short fine silver wires covering most of the arsenic matrix from Pöhla, Schwarzenberg District, Saxony,
Measures approximately 50x40x35 mm and weighs approximately 0,165 kilogramme.





Pöhla is located in the southwestern part of the federal state of saxony within the western part of the Erzgebirge (literally translates into “Ore Mountains”) near to border with Czech Republic.
The area is one of the most renowned historical metal mining districts in Germany (perhaps in Europe) with a 800 year long history of silver and many other minerals (like bismuth, uranium).


Arsenic is a native element and is toxic.  Arsenic is usually a dull gray or black and usually mammillary or botryoidal.
We cleaned the mineral. The arsenic and the silver crystals now are bright metallic and shiny, but that’s only temporary arsenic and silver quickly turn black again.
