Uncountable 1/2 up to 1 mm large yellow mimetite spheres, partly coagulated up to clusters building a 4-8 mm thick layer in a beautiful contrast with the dark brown background.  Here and there are some transparent acicular hemimorphite crystals. Origin: Mapimi, Mexico. Dimensions: 125x95x80 mm. Weight 1,260 kilogramme.

Mimetite is formed in the oxidized zones of hydrothermal deposits as a result of the oxidation and decomposition of lead ores, as well as in the presence of lennantite, arsenopyrite, or any other arsenides and sulfoarsenides.
It is a rare mineral. Mimetite forms a mineral series with pyromorphite and with vanadinite. The most notable occurrences are Tsumeb, Namibia and Mapimi, Durango, Mexico.
