Old epidote specimens from Copper Mountain and Green Monster Mountain are sometimes labeled "Sulzer,"
named after an abandoned mining settlement several kilometers to the northwest of Copper Mountain.

Copper Mountain and Green Monster Mountain are famous epidote occurrence on Prince of Wales Island located about 50 kilometers west-southwest of Ketchikan, Alaska.
From 1900-1920 Copper Mountain produced a lot of copper (chalcopyrite ), amounts of gold and silver and the first epidote specimens were discovered on the island.
